I'm so happy to be here again to post another project. This is Lisa from Lisa's Craft Room, thank you Sheila for having me again. Well, I only have a card that I made for St. Patrick's Day. I missed out on Valentine's Day so I had to come up with something else. I thought it might be a little too early for Easter.
I've been so busy working that I haven't had any time for scrapping, which I am very sad about but hopefully that will change soon.
I welded the Leprechaun's hat from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge, then cut it out on green cardstock, then I cut it out once on a checkered green cardstock so I could use it for a layer. I used gold stickles to outline the buckle. I cut out a stitched scallop and circle from My Creative Times die set and adhered a shamrock which is also from Paper Doll Dress Up. I printed Happy St. Patrick's Day out on dark yellow cardstock and punched it out with the sign punch from Stampin Up.
I hope to be better prepared for my March project. Thank you for your support and comments, it means alot. That is what is so great about our blogging friends, we are all here for each other ;)
Hope your day is filled with lots of love and happiness ;)
Cupid is the most famous of Valentine symbols and everybody knows that boy armed with bow and arrows, and piercing hearts . He is known as a mischievous, winged child armed with bow and arrows. The arrows signify desires and emotions of love, and Cupid aims those arrows at Gods and Humans, causing them to fall deeply in love. Cupid has always played a role in the celebrations of love and lovers. In ancient Greece he was known as Eros, the young son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. To the Roman's he was Cupid, and his mother was Venus.
There is a very interesting story about Cupid and His mortal Bride Psyche in Roman mythology. Venus was jealous of the beauty of Psyche, and ordered Cupid to punish the mortal. But instead, Cupid fell deeply in love with her. He took her as his wife, but as a mortal she was forbidden to look at him.
Psyche was happy until her sisters persuaded her to look at Cupid. as soon as Psyche looked at Cupid, Cupid punished her by leaving her. Their lovely castle and gardens vanished too. Psyche found herself alone in an open field with no signs of other beings or Cupid. As she wandered trying to find her love, she came upon the temple of Venus. Wishing to destroy her, the goddess of love gave Psyche a series of tasks, each harder and more dangerous then the last.
For her last task Psyche was given a little box and told to take it to the underworld. She was told to get some of the beauty of Proserpine, the wife of Pluto, and put it in the box. During her trip she was given tips on
avoiding the dangers of the realm of the dead. She was also warned not to open the box. But Temptation overcame Psyche and she opened the box. But instead of finding beauty, she found deadly slumber.
Cupid found her lifeless on the ground. He gathered the deadly sleep from her body and put it back in the box. Cupid forgave her, as did Venus. The gods, moved by Psyche's love for Cupid made her a goddess.
Today, Cupid and his arrows have become the most popular of love signs, and love is most frequently depicted by two hearts pierced by an arrow, Cupid's arrow.
I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I really haven't even been scrapping. I've been working and I've been tired but, I've also been playing detective. I started playing detective many years ago but never had any luck, so I just went on with my life with a heavy heart, soul and mind. I do believe everything happens for a reason and God answers our prayers when he is ready and when he thinks the time is right. We may not always agree with him but he is the Boss. :) So, I met a cousin that I had never known about and he had some interesting news, with the information he provided, I picked up my detective skills again and I could not believe after 47 years, I finally succeeded. Not to say I had been searching for 47 years, more like hoping and praying. Well, my hopes and prayers came true. I found my long lost brother. Can I just say I was flooded with emotions. I still cannot believe it. It is so surreal. My mother and sister are also so very happy. We have such mixed feelings because I also lost two brothers, a grandmother and two aunts. Now we are feeling saddened by them not being able to revel in this joy. I've been trying to except that they are looking down and are revelling in the joy. I guess that makes me feel a little better, but not really.
I am so happy that my brother was just as ecstatic as I was, if not more. He says he always knew something was missing in his life, now he is beyond thrilled and it's so amazing that he has no ill feelings at all. Now he has a mother, an older sister and a younger sister. Of course, I'm sure you can imagine this story has a long history, but we are going to meet soon and start new memories and enjoy as much time with each other as God will allow. My brother says that I am his angel and that he will never forget what I've done for him. I am just so grateful to my cousin for giving me the information that he had and to God for making this a reality. So, right now we are writing each other and sending pictures and talking on the phone. Hopefully, in the next couple of months, we can meet and finally be at peace.
